This is also the case on Mallorca: besides the council tax (which is calculated according to the cadastral value), there are also the garbage fees (collection and elimination). Sometimes there is also a small tax for the garage entrance. At the same time, the motor vehicle tax is due. The terms of payment depend on the responsible municipality.

In our municipality of Calvia, these taxes are due from 1st June to 16th August every year. If this deadline is missed, default surcharges will be added! And these taxes are a debt to be paid here, which means that you have to take care of them by yourself, even if you don’t get a notification! Therefore, please check your bank statement if you have issued a direct debit authorization.
