Mallorca is located east-facing of the Spanish mainland and has a maximum east-west distance of 98 kilometers and a north-south length of 78 kilometers (the whole coastline has a length of 550 kilometers) and is part of the autonomous region of the Balearic Islands with the capital “Palma de Mallorca” ruled by the Govern de les Illes Balears.

Mallorca itself is divided into 53 municipalities, each with its own administrative center. In the southwest there are the municipalities Calvia and Andratx, which are also the richest municipalities of Mallorca. The Tourism forms the backbone of the Balearic as well as the Majorcan economy and is clearly ahead of the second most important tourist region of Spain, Catalonia.
